“Bass Edge” Television Show Wraps Up Filming in Prince William County, Virginia
Prince William County, Virginia Insisting there is “no reason to go anywhere else,” pro angler and 2007 Bassmaster Elite Series Pro and Northern Virginia native Kurt Dove spent several days filming an episode for the television show Bass Edge on the Potomac River off Leesylvania State Park.
“It is amazing when you think about how many bass must live in the Potomac,” says Dove, who co-hosts the upcoming episode on Versus (formerly Outdoor Life) Network, available in more than 70 million homes. He adds, “The fishing is awesome. No matter the conditions it always seems as though you can catch lots of quality two to three pound bass. I think we caught 12 to 15 bass.”
Dove, who grew up in Prince William County, worked with Bass Edge on another episode last year, and invited the show to his home turf this year. He describes Leesylvania State Park as a “one of a kind” facility, with large boat ramps and a store on-site stocked with necessities. Dove, regular Bass Edge host and pro angler Aaron Martin, and the rest of the crew were welcomed to Leesylvania State Park by Cynthia Juarez, Visitor Services Specialist with Virginia’s Department of Conservation and Recreation.
They found an appealing mix of beautiful scenery, bright skies, low humidity, cool temperatures and calm water.
The Bass Edge crew also worked with the Prince William County/Manassas, Virginia Convention and Visitors Bureau (www.visitpwc.com) to highlight the destination’s other premier attractions in the episode, including Manassas National Battlefield Park. The crew filmed specialty stores, the Rail Depot and Harris Pavilion in charming Old Town Manassas, and antique shops and the waterfront in picturesque Occoquan.
On the Fourth of July, Dove and Martin were welcomed to the Potomac Nationals minor league baseball game at Pfitzner Stadium by General Manager Bobby Holland and Director of Media Relations and Broadcasting Anthony Oppermann. The Bass Edge crew set up a boat and greeted baseball fans, many of whom also had an interest in bass fishing and in the show. “It is obvious that the people of Prince William County love the Potomac River and bass fishing, and find this area a great place to live and to visit,” said Dove.
Dove and Martin also had the opportunity to talk live on the air in the stadium’s media booth about their visit to Prince William County. The pro anglers, along with their families, then enjoyed the stadium’s annual Fourth of July fireworks display.
Bass Edge takes viewers over the terrain and under the water to highlight important instructional elements. A portion of this episode also will be featured in “The Edge,” a weekly podcast availabe on the Bass Edge website (www.bassedge.com), focusing on tips, techniques and inside product knowledge.
