OCCOQUAN DISTRICT SUPERVISOR MICHAEL MAY CELEBRATES NATIONAL TOURISM WEEK IN PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY BY GREETING GUESTS AND TOURING WOODBRIDGE HOTEL

Woodbridge, VA Supervisor Michael May joined Prince William County/Manassas Convention and Visitors Bureau staff members on Monday, May 14, 2007, welcoming guests to the Hampton Inn off Annapolis Way. His appearance was part of a National Tourism Week event, designed to highlight the impact of tourism on Prince William County and the commonwealth of Virginia.
May, who was elected Occoquan Supervisor by special election in January 2007, received a tour of the Hampton Inn from Assistant General Manager Carole Downs. May says he was already familiar with the hospitality of the hotel, because his in-laws stay there while they visit May and his family in nearby Lake Ridge. May shook hands with guests from as far away as Illinois and New Jersey.
“In Prince William County, we treasure the value of our past and the promise of our future. The tourism industry is a vital aspect of this strategic vision. From historic Occoquan and Manassas Battlefield to modern amenities like the Marine Corps Heritage Center, Prince William County has so much to offer visitors,” said May. He added, “It is my sincere hope travelers feel welcome and appreciated in our community, not only this week, but anytime they decide to come and visit.”
May formerly served as the at-large representative on the Prince William County Planning Commission and also served as a member of the Prince William County Social Services Board. A community activist, May has served as the Vice-Chair of the Prince William Conservation Alliance and Vice-Chair and Program Director of the Prince William Boys and Girls Club Board. May is also a practicing attorney, specializing in government contracts, civil litigation, employment law and small business transactional work.
Also on hand for the tour were the Convention and Visitors Bureau’s Visitor Services Specialist Kathy Martin, and CVB Board Members Kathy Loucks (representing the Prince William County Tourism Association) and Annette Riley (representing the Occoquan District).
