More than 20,000 visitors will attend the PGA TOUR Presidents Cup tournament from September 21-25, 2005, the Prince William County/Manassas Convention & Visitors Bureau anticipates. The event is expected to fill local hotels and boost attendance at area tourist attractions, as well.
The PGA TOUR Presidents Cup tournament in 2000also located at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Prince William County-- attracted 22,000 visitors. During that event, county hotels experienced an overall year-end revenue increase of 25 percent over 1999 levelsprimarily because of the Presidents Cup
The Presidents Cup has traditionally been an excellent tourist draw for our destination, said CVB Executive Director Tabatha Mullins, Since 2000, the county has welcomed several new hotels, golf courses, and tourist attractions, and were hoping these new offerings add to the appeal for golf and event travelers.

The Presidents Cup tournament will match top U.S. golfers against an International team of players from around the world. President George W. Bush is the honorary chairman of the event, and is expected to attend the opening ceremonies on September 22.
In addition to the direct revenues generated by attendance, attraction visitation, and hotel stays, the Presidents Cup will offer residual, positive economic impact to the county that cannot be completely tabulated.
The Presidents Cup provides Prince William County with sustained media coverage that will increase brand recognition of our county as a tourism and golf destination, Mullins added.
