Prince William County/Manassas, Virginia is Ready for Its Close-Up!
A new video featuring Prince William County/Manassas, Virginia (www.visitpwc.com) as a premier tourist destination is about to make its debut. The Prince William County/Manassas, Virginia Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) will unveil “History Loves Company” on November 1, 2007.
The six-minute video will be featured on the CVB’s website, www.visitpwc.com and group tour motorcoaches. It also will be played at participating area hotels, tourist information centers, tourism trade shows and media conferences to promote the destination to tourists, industry professionals and the press.
“While a video is part of the typical promotional package that all destinations have as part of their arsenal, what makes this video unique is the partnership that was forged to create the video,” said Tabatha Mullins, CVB executive director.
The project is the culmination of a partnership between the CVB and the Prince William County Public Schools Office of Media Production Services. With a Prince William County history video already on the drawing board for the School System, the Office of Media Production Services worked with the CVB to combine those locations with a few more locations, to produce the destination video. The crew spent six months filming area attractions, events, lodging and dining. The highlights include Manassas National Battlefield Park, the National Museum of the Marine Corps, Old Town Manassas and Historic Occoquan, the Potomac Nationals, Nissan Pavilion, The Winery at LaGrange, Brentsville Courthouse Historic Centre, Leesylvania State Park and Potomac Mills Mall.
Mullins said this project provided the CVB with a budget savings, rather than utilizing an expensive production firm. “The CVB has been dealing with modest budget increases that don’t cover the increase in marketing costs. This is truly difficult and makes it hard for us to stay competitive. The production of this video helps us stay competitive against destinations that have the luxury of much higher budgets. By thinking smart, we were able to partner with a very professional group of people, who care about the community and were just as interested in the final product as we were,” Mullins said.
“We were very excited to work with the CVB on this project. I was born and raised in Prince William County, but in videotaping at locations across this county, I realized how little I took advantage of the wonderful attractions and events right here in my hometown! This project has inspired me; I especially plan to take my kids to the Prince William Forest Park and the National Museum of the Marine Corps!” said Media Production Services Producer Mollie Rosenburg.
“I am excited to unveil the video to the community in which I work and live. I hope that it not only inspires residents to explore all that there is here, but also entices those who are looking for a place to vacation,” said Andrea Autry, the CVB’s Community and Industry Relations Manager.
