The Manassas National Battlefield Park was established on May 10, 1940. Over a period of time the present parks boundary was established to preserve the 5,000 acres in relation to the First and Second Battles of Manassas, the first battles in the Civil War.
The Battlefield is an now a modern day national park bordering Interstate 66 approximately 25 miles west of Washington, D.C. Consisting of historic sites, buildings, objects, and views, the battlefield provides interpretive learning of the major battles taking place their through housed exhibits at the visitors center, narrated film, historic monuments and extensive walking and driving trails. |
