Chopawamsic Backcountry
Hike in backcountry camping sites available under a first come, first served permit. The permit is available at the visitor center and is free of charge. Chopawamsic Backcountry offers a very private opportunity for backcountry solitude and camping in a detached unit of the park.

Sample life on a working farm, roam open landscapes and watch cattle being herded at this rural campground where exclusivity is the trademark. You’ll be enveloped by the quiet here, yet you are still in the heart of the area’s most historical attractions from Manassas Battlefield Park and Old Town Manassas to Washington D.C. Hike Bull Run Mountain or fish one of four private ponds.


Hillwood Camping Park

Enjoy all the modern amenities of home at this camping park, located in a shady, secluded area just off Rt. 29. Campers can relax in nature and still be within a short drive of several historic and natural areas. Entrance is at Hillwood Sales Lot. (Open year round, $).

Directions: From I-66, take Exit 43A to U.S. 29 S. Hillwood is 1.0 mile west of I-66, on U.S. 29. From I-95, take Exit 158 to Prince William Parkway. Follow to Rt. 234N to I-66 West, to Exit 43A. Entrance at Hillwood Camper Sales lot.

Oak Ridge Campground

Oak Ridge campground is a wooded camping facility capable of accommodating one family unit or groups of six people or less per site. The campground is open year-round. Each site has a picnic table, grill and lantern post. Restrooms feature sinks and flush toilets, and the "B" loop restroom has showers. Rangers provide programs and campfire talks during summer weekend evenings at the centrally located amphitheater.

Each site has a picnic table, grill/fire pit, parking area and lantern post. Restrooms feature sinks and flush toilets (no showers). There is one amphitheater with bench seating, which is reservable on a first-come, first-served basis.
