OPENING WEEKEND EVENTS

The opening weekend of The National Museum of the Marine Corps, November 10-12, 2006, requires tickets to attend. We regret that the deadline for new registrations has closed. If you have already registered, please refer to the information below for event schedules and transportation.

November 10, 2006:            Dedication Ceremony begins at 2pm.

November 11, 2006:            Timed Entrance Ticketed Tours of the Museum.

November 12, 2006:            Timed Entrance Ticketed Tours of the Museum.

Transportation
Shuttle buses for all weekend events will be available from two satellite parking lots in Virginia: Pentagon North and Stafford Regional Airport and from the Pentagon Metro stop – blue and yellow lines. Tickets to the museum will be checked at the parking lots. Click here for detailed directions.

Dedication Ceremony
Attendees should expect to walk the equivalent of several city blocks. Be prepared to pass through check points and stand in long lines due to the large numbers of people expected to attend. The Dedication Ceremony will take place regardless of the weather conditions. Museum patrons can expect to be outside for up to six hours on the opening day, November 10.

Museum Tours
All attendees who have indicated their interest in visiting the museum will be assigned a ticket for a specific time on either Saturday, November 11, 2006 or Sunday, November 12, 2006. If you prefer not to take advantage of the group tours by specific time, the museum will be open to provide guests an opportunity for a brief walk-through following the Friday Dedication Ceremony.

Semper Fidelis Memorial Park Dedication
On Saturday, November 11, 2006 at 5:00pm the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation will host a ceremony to dedicate Semper Fidelis Memorial Park. Tickets are not required for this event but all attendees must arrive via the designated transportation system. It is recommended that you board a designated bus no later than 4pm if you plan on attending.

  • Take I-66 East toward WASHINGTON.
  • Merge onto I-495 S Via EXIT 64A toward RICHMOND.
  • Merge onto US-50E/ARLINGTON BLVD via EXIT 50A/B toward ARLINGTON.
  • Merge onto WASHINGTON  BLVD/ VA 27 S. toward I-395 / PENTAGON.
  • Take I-395 N ramp toward 244W COLUMBIA PIKE.
  • Take GEORGE WASHINGTON PARKWAY S / BOUNDARY CHANNEL DRIVE EXIT 10A-B.
  • Take BOUNDARY CHANNEL DRIVE ramp.

From All Points North

  • 14th ST NW becomes US-1 S. (crossing into VIRGINIA)
  • US-1 becomes I-395 S.
  • Take GEORGE WASHINGTON PARKWAY N / BOUNDARY CHANNEL DRIVE. EXIT 10 A-B toward REAGAN NATIONAL AIRPORT.
  • Take BOUNDARY CHANNEL DRIVE ramp and go straight.

From all Points South

  • I-95 N toward WASHINGTON.
  • Merge onto I-395 N via EXIT 170A-B toward WASHINGTON / 1-495 / TYSONS CORNER.
  • EXIT 10 A-B toward REAGAN NATION AIRPORT.
  • Take BOUNDARY CHANNEL DRIVE Exit.
  • Take BOUNDARY CHANNEL DRIVE ramp and go straight.
