Battle of First Manassas 158th Anniversary Event at Ben Lomond

After the Battle of First Manassas, Ben Lomond served as a field hospital to treat the wounded. Visit Ben Lomond for the 158th anniversary of the battle and learn how soldiers were treated during the Civil War and how the conditions of these hospitals differ from the hospitals we have today.

On Saturday evening, July 20, join us for an evening luminary at the Ben Lomond hospital. Explore an active Civil War hospital where you where you will experience the sounds and smells of the evening 158 years ago as hundreds of luminaries representing the soldiers treated there light your way. As you explore, encounter surgeons, wounded soldiers, and civilians who will tell you of their plight in the days after First Manassas. There is a $5 suggested donation for this part of the program. Some scenes may not be suitable for young children.

Admission to the site is free, though donations are appreciated. The site is open from 10 am to 4 pm on Saturday, July 20 and Sunday, July 21.
