Celebrating Dog Days

Man’s best friend is taking over the National Museum of the Marine Corps on Saturday, September 22, 2018!

We are wrapping up the last day of summer with our annual "Dog Days" event. The event will include a number of activities based on the vital role dogs and animals play in the Marine Corps and in the community.

Chesty XV, the official mascot of the Marine Corps will be kicking off the event at 10:00 AM.

Activities include Marine Corps and U.S. State Department working dog demonstrations. Service dog organizations will be demonstrating their dogs' skills. Therapy dog and rescue dog organizations will be showcasing animals available for adoption. The Prince William SPCA will have their PAW Express van on site for visitors to check out available animals from the county.

The MCB Quantico Natural Resource office will have their trailer on site and they will be sharing information about animals, plant life and hunting regulations on Quantico.

Bring the kids! Join us for "Tales with Tails" in our Leatherneck Gallery, where young readers will have the opportunity to read to a therapy dog. There will also be crafts, puppet shows, a gallery scavenger hunt. And the Raptor Conservancy of Virginia will be showcasing birds of prey.

And don't miss the Bulldog Kissing Booth!

Dogs are welcome on the grounds of the Museum. Please keep dogs on a leash and use "doggie" relief area near the flagpole.
