Freedmen’s Bureau at Brentsville Tours

11 a.m. – 4 p.m.; FREE, donations welcome.

In the years after the Civil War, a period of Reconstruction commenced as the nation worked to rebuild and transition millions of freed African Americans into society. This work was left to the Freedmen’s Bureau and in Prince William County, the Freedmen’s Burau office was stationed at Brentsville. Join us at Brentsville Courthouse Historic Centre for special tours and living history to learn more about the Freedmen’s Bureau, and about this little known, yet turbulent time in the County’s history.

Brentsville Courthouse Historic Centre, 12229 Bristow Rd., Bristow, VA. 703-365-7895.
