Heroes Among Us

"Heroes Among Us" is a free event that highlights resources available for Veterans and Active Duty Service Members and their family members. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet with representatives from federal, state and nonprofit organizations. There will be informative talks, service dog demonstrations, and a free yoga class!

Visitors will also have the opportunity to take a "behind-the-scenes" tour of future galleries that showcase Marine Corps history from 1976 to 2015.

Medal of Honor recipient and Hiring Our Heroes Ambassador, Sgt. Dakota Meyer will speak in the Medal of Honor Theater at 11:30 am about his life experiences and his passion for preparing young service members and veterans for life after military service. Seating is limited. Visitors can reserve their seat through Eventbrite.

Throughout the day in Leatherneck Gallery, Chef Andre Rush will challenge visitors to stay motivated in life and physically fit. Known for his 24-inch biceps, Chef Rush is an advocate for military service and suicide prevention. Visitors will be challenged to drop to the floor and join him in his commitment of doing 2,222 push-ups a day for suicide awareness.

U.S. Navy Captain Maurice Buford will be sharing tips on Spiritual Fitness in Scuttlebutt Theater at 2:30 p.m. Chaplain Buford's topic will include the history of service members' faith in battle and spiritual fitness.
