The Historic Preservation Division will welcome Historian David W. Hogan Jr.as we explore the relationship of General George S. Patton and the Allied High Command, especially General Omar Bradley during World War II. Patton had established himself as a hard fighting General, especially with the Germans in Africa and Italy during the early years of US involvement in the war. The German high command believed Patton would be in the thick of any operation against them because after all they considered him among the finest Allied Generals. Patton, however, had a personality which strained his relationship with the allied high command. Because of the German belief that Patton would be a key player, the Allied Command was able to use this reputation along with some fictitious communications originating here at Vint Hill Farm to fool the Germans leading to success in Operation OVERLORD. This will be an online presentation, to register visit: www.pwcparks.org/historicprograms. A link to the presentation will be emailed to all participants. For more information, call 703-367-7872.
