April showers brings May... concerts? I don't know about you, but there’s something about May that just feels like the start of live music season. The weather finally cooperates, patios fill up, and suddenly there’s a show (or three) happening every weekend.

In Prince William, Virginia, we thrive on our live music scene. We are home to amazing venues like Jiffy Lube Live and Hylton Performing Arts Center, but it's the local talent that really makes our county special. Whether you’re planning a full concert night or just want to stumble into some live music with a drink in hand, here’s what’s happening around Prince William, Virginia this month.

 

Jiffy Lube Live

If you’re ready for that full concert experience, lights, crowds, and a night you’ll be talking about all summer, this is where you start. Jiffy Lube Live has an amazing line up this year, and it all starts this month! 

 

Hylton Performing Arts Center

For something a little more intimate (and indoors), the Hylton Center rounds out its season with some seriously talented performers.

      • You’ll hear works from American masters like John Williams’ Liberty Fanfare, Leonard Bernstein’s “Three Dance Episodes” from On the Town, John Adams short Ride in a Fast Machine and Aaron Copland’s works Appalachian Spring and Quiet City featuring long-time Orchestra members Alicia McMahan (English horn) and Nick Nichols (trumpet).

      • From toe-tapping songs to soaring melodies, this grand evening concludes the Chorale’s 32nd season! 

  • Additional late-May programming (like galas and performances) continues through the end of the month.

This is a great option if you’re looking for a more laid-back night that still delivers incredible musicianship.

Not every live music moment needs a ticket. Some of the best nights happen when you just show up, grab a drink, and let the music find you. Like we mentioned, the local talent here is unmatched and it's super easy to find a spot showcasing that talent! Some of the best places to find live music are:

  • TheYARD at NOVA Live
    • May has an impressive lineup at The YARD! Located in the NOVA Live campus, The YARD is the perfect place to brag a locally brewed beer, snag a snack, and enjoy music under the stars! 
  • Eavesdrop Brewery
    • Although live music isn't offered as often here, they still bring the talent! Located in Manassas, VA, Eavesdrop fills your weekend full of events. To get a full description of their live music for May, check out their events page! 
  • Farm Brewery at Broad Run
    • Another brewery on our list that has live music almost every weekend! When you're not enjoying yourself while axe throwing, you can grab a spot on their lawn and relax to the music. 
  • The Winery at La Grange
    • This winery located in Haymarket, VA is the perfect space to enjoy a glass of wine while emerged in the Bull Run Mountains! Oh! And they got a full line up for May!  
  • The Winery at Sunshine Ridge Farm
    • Located right on Lake Manassas, enjoy wine, beer, and cider while jamming out to popular local bands on the weekend! This open winery has all the space to dance and enjoy the warm weather. 
  • Sinistral Brewing Co.
    • Another Manassas spot to add to your list! Located in Historic Manassas, this brewery always has something going on. Despite them being a big part of First Fridays (celebrated on the first Friday of every month), they frequently host artists of all different genres!

Rockwood Acoustic Fridays & Saturdays

  • Acoustic Fridays bring a laid-back, intimate sound to the stage every week. Join us every Friday night from 7–9 PM as a new live solo artist delivers stripped-down sets, soulful vocals, and acoustic vibes that set the tone for an easygoing night out.

  • Acoustic Saturdays = Live Classic Rock Every Week! Every Saturday night from 9 PM–12 AM, the stage comes alive with a new local classic rock band, bringing you the riffs, rhythms, and raw energy you love. Grab a drink, hit the dance floor, and soak up the electric atmosphere that only Rockwood can deliver.

  • Located in Historic Occoquan, Virginia, Mill St. Draft Garden is an outdoor oasis serving unique and classic beer garden cuisine. With over 16 draft lines featuring local brews, sparkling wine, and craft cocktails, Mill St. Draft Garden is your go to all day gathering spot! The Electric Palm

  • The Electric Palm is a hometown favorite gathering place for friends and families. You can enjoy amazing views of the river landscape, beautiful marina boats and colorful sunsets. Their open-air Tiki patio and casual dining room seating provide ample room for large groups and family parties. With live music almost every weekend, you'll enjoy your time here on the water!
