Missing In America Project

  • 18424 Joplin Road
  • Triangle, VA 22172

For generations, they’ve waited. Unclaimed, forgotten, silently occupying the shelves of mortuaries and state hospitals across the United States. The cremated remains of veterans, many simply forgotten by their families and friends, await interment with military honors.

Today, the Missing in America Project – MIAP – is seeking what could potentially be tens of thousands of unburied U.S. veterans who served America in uniform. Their stories have begun to emerge from the
shadows of storage rooms.

The purpose of the MIAP is to locate, identify and inter the unclaimed cremated remains of American
veterans through the joint efforts of private, state and federal organizations. To provide honor and respect to those who have served this country by securing a final resting place for these forgotten heroes.

Groups will experience a flag placing experience at the grave sites of these previously forgotten veterans. Included in the experience is a guided tour of the cemetery, allowing you to hear the touching stories of some unique veterans and their families at Quantico National Cemetery. Donations are highly encouraged but not required in order to make a reservation for your group. Weekdays are preferred but select weekends can be accommodated on a case-by-case basis.
