‘#PRINCEWILLIAMSTRONG PLEDGE’ SHOWCASES COUNTY BUSINESSES COMMITMENT TO HEALTH AND WELLNESS; COUNTY SEEKS BUSINESS PARTICIPATION

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Virginia – June 9, 2020 – The Prince William County Office of Tourism (d/b/a Visit Prince William) with support from the County’s Department of Economic Development, launched a voluntary program for local businesses – the ‘#PrinceWilliamStrong Pledge’. The program, designed to build consumer confidence and spur Prince William’s economy, launches today.

Available at www.PrinceWilliamStrong.com, the ‘pledge’ encourages County businesses voluntarily commit to the health and wellness of customers, clients and employees. Businesses that participate commit to meeting all ‘Forward Virginia’ guidelines, mandatory requirements and best practices, as well as, Virginia Department of Health (VDH) and Centers for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC) guidance to ease the spread of COVID-19.  Endorsed by the County’s Economic Recovery Taskforce and the Prince William Chamber, the ‘#PrinceWilliamStrong Pledge' inspires support of local businesses while providing assurances as COVID-19 restrictions are lifted through each phase of recovery.

“Prince William County has remained steadfast and dedicated to our business community and residents throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to the Board of County Supervisors recent $5 million investment in business relief micro-grants, the ‘#PrinceWilliamStrong Pledge’ empowers County businesses to unite in their commitment to the health and well-being of customers and employees,” said Prince William Board of County Supervisors Chair At-Large, Ann B. Wheeler. “We encourage all County businesses to take the pledge,” she added.

The initiative is part of the County’s ‘#PrinceWilliamStrong’ Program that encourages community connection, business support and solidarity throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and each phase of recovery. The program includes business, resident and visitor resources aimed at boosting the County’s economic recovery.

Organizations that take the pledge receive a certificate, window/door cling and use of the ‘pledge’ logo to display to those who interact with or enter participating businesses.  The County will feature businesses that take the ‘pledge’ on the PrinceWilliamStrong.com website.
